The Northernbound pilgrimages - Feb 2018 - Feb 2024

The Northernbound pilgrimages were a series of pilgrimages walking small parts of the Te Araroa trail from Auckland to Rangihoua in the Bay of Islands and learning the local stories en route.

They spanned the years from Feb 2018 - Feb 2024.

These pilgrimages started as day walks and ended requiring the devotion of long weekends and public holidays. Some of them are remembered here. They are an example of how to make a big journey in small steps, how everybody on the journey can contribute and the value of having a significant destination.
